Did you know that the teddy bear is a popular symbol of love and affection, especially on Valentine's Day? The teddy bear as we know it today was first created in 1902 by American toy maker Morris Michtom. The story goes that President Theodore Roosevelt was on a hunting trip and refused to shoot a bear that had been captured and tied up for him to hunt. Michtom saw a political cartoon of the incident and had the idea to create a toy bear in honor of the president, whom he affectionately named "Teddy."
The toy was an instant hit and soon became a popular gift for children, but it wasn't long before adults began giving teddy bears as gifts to their loved ones as well. Today, teddy bears are often given as romantic gifts on Valentine's Day, and are also a popular choice for couples to give to each other as a symbol of their love and affection. So next time you see a teddy bear, remember its humble beginnings as a symbol of love and kindness.
